Collection: Southern Maltings and Ware Poets: An Evening with Imtiaz Dharker. Friday the 8th of November

On Friday, 8th November, join Ware Poets at Southern Maltings for a night of poetry and creativity. The evening opens with an open mic session, where you can present your poetry, followed by an engaging reading from Imtiaz Dharker. The event is set to begin at 8:00 PM, but doors open at 7:30 PM, so arrive early to get a good seat.

Imtiaz Dharker is a poet, artist and video film maker, awarded the Queen’s Gold Medal for Poetry in 2014, Chancellor of Newcastle University. Her seven collections, all published by Bloodaxe Books, include Over the Moon and the latest, Shadow Reader. Her poems have featured widely on BBC radio, television, the London Underground, Glasgow billboards and Mumbai buses. and Imtiaz has been a guest on Radio 4’s Desert Island Discs. She has had eleven solo exhibitions of drawings and also scripts and directs video films, many of them for non-government organisations working in the area of shelter, education and health for women and children in India.

This is one of Ware Poets’ regular monthly events.  As always, the first half will be open mic, so feel free to bring and read a poem in a friendly  and welcoming space.
